Last year we started learning about traditions around the world as anchors in our December month honing all focus towards Christmas Day. The girls particularly loved learning about why so many little girls wear white dresses and put candles on their heads on December 13th! We now know the ins and outs and even some of the tough bits of Saint Lucy’s story, and have enjoyed following her example in the smallest of ways by baking Swedish Tea Rings and sharing that food with our teammates. Last year our tea ring broke into three pieces when I dropped it pulling it out of the oven. This year it came out whole and complete with no cooking catastrophes!! Advent and learning about the history behind some commercialized Christmas figures has served us well over the years, bringing our attention ever on the babe in the manger.
