What comes of a fever

This one has been under the weather in one way or another for about the past four weeks. Two of those weeks we were in self-isolation. Are we frustrated? Yes. Um… yessssss. Do we trust that it will pass and life will go on? Mostly? Sometimes? Yes, deep down, we believe that, but all over the surface are fears ignited by the passing of our teammate and friend last October. Will there be another side? Will she get over it? Or will it be a sick that takes her out of our reach? It happened once, it can happen again.

But that was always true. We just didn’t live in that reality before Bethaney died. Now we do and we’re not always doing it gracefully. I should probably start speaking for myself. Now we do and I’m not always doing it gracefully. Brian is a rock about this kind of stuff. She will be okay, this is just a little sick that’s disrupting plans and making her sleepy sleepy (though we would appreciate prayers for her comfort and a swift recovery). More importantly, we would appreciate prayers that God would fortify our hearts and strengthen our faith in him no matter what circumstances are swirling around us, and that we could pass that steadfastness on to our children. Missed plans, failed attempts at saying goodbye well to departing teammates, sickness (again and again), death, isolation… whatever. In the middle of any and all of it pray we would always rest content knowing that God is still God and we are in his care. Because he is and we are.

Thanks for being transparent. Also for being very normal as a Mother. We have a granddaughter who is struggling with OCD and we almost daily pray for the Lord to heal her of this very hard mental health issue. However, we too need to just put our trust in the Lord knowing he is well aware and that some day she will be completely mentally healthy. She is a fighter and is doing everything her doctor’s and counselor have advized. But when you love a daughter or a granddaughter you grieve and ask the “what if’s”. Thanks for being normal. Praying for full healing for you little gal.
