Fare thee well

We have tickets!! We have approval from the PNG government!! Tomorrow we take our COVID tests and then the way is fully clear. Theoretically. Others still have trouble with this or that gate agent wanting this or that random thing, but we’ve done everything we can to cover our bases. Now we say final goodbyes to people, places, and activities we love. Here the girls are saying goodbye to a special spot they go to on their bike rides through the woods with Brian. All of us are happy sad to leave, but we know God goes ahead.

Our itinerary for the curious: We leave Monday night at 9pm from Dulles to Doha. We’re in Doha for just under ten hours and then on to Hong Kong. After a shorter layover of 4 hours we head to Port Moresby. Since PNG changed its restrictions for vaccinated travelers, we’ve been granted approval to go straight home. We have another long layover of about ten hours in Port Moresby, but then we’ll board a plane to go home. If all goes right, we’ll be snuggled up in our own beds next Thursday night (Thursday morning stateside). That’s a rather big if. We appreciate your prayers that it would go smoothly. However, our “travel Shakespeare” is still in the front of our minds ready to be pulled out when we’re feeling travel woes.

“Thou seest we are not all alone unhappy: this wide and universal theatre presents more woeful pageants than the scene wherein we play in.”

Thanks for thinking of the “curious,” for I am ALWAYS among that group. I was wondering, “When are they leaving?” Prayers will go with you.

I am praying you home. I imagined RayRey reciting the Shakespeare line in all her grandeur. God bless you as you continue to prepare, as you say the many “goodbye’s” transition involves, as you travel, and as you snuggle into your beds at the end of the day Thursday. I love you guys!

Looking to hear from you when you arrive. Thanks for your attitudes as you leave again and do what He called you to do. Hugs from here and more prayers too.

We’ll be praying that that long, complicated journey goes very smoothly for you and you are home in your own beds Thursday just as you hope!
